Jimmie Dale Brooke

January 22, 1938 — December 25, 2021

Jimmie “Jim” Dale Brooke, 83, of Huntsville passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO with family at his side.

Jim was born on January 22, 1938 in Gilman City, MO to Cleo Brooke. He was raised in the Coffey area by Ralph and Cora Brooke, his beloved grandparents, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins whom he adored. After graduating from high school in Coffey, MO, Jim attended college in Maryville, MO. From 1955 until 1958 he served as a reservist for the National Guard.

He worked as a construction contractor for Ellie Meyers before beginning his career as a lineman in 1969 with Missouri Power and Light. Jim continued with the company as it became Union Electric and later Ameren; retiring on February 1, 2002. He worked side by side with his son-in-law, Mark Wilson, who he loved as a son. Jim was a dedicated employee who worked through the ice storm right up until midnight of the day he retired. After Jim retired from Ameren U E he enjoyed working for Norman Thomas’ cattle farm in Huntsville.

Jim was a card-carrying member of the NRA, as he was a true believer in not only the freedom afforded to us by the US Constitution but also in every man’s God given human rights. He enjoyed league bowling for many years, as well as hunting and collecting knives. He also loved to go fishing in Canada.

Jim is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Cora Brooke; his birth mother, Cleo Grady; uncle, Dean Brooke (who was like a second father to him).
