John David Dawkins

John David Dawkins, 76, of Moberly, MO passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at Caring Hearts and Hands in Columbia, MO. David was born on December 23, 1948, to Nolan and Helen (Synder) Dawkins in Chillicothe, MO. He was united in marriage to Christie McNear on March 29, 1975, in Moberly, MO.

David was a baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moberly, Missouri’s Congregation. He worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 43 years before retiring in January 2016. He enjoyed talking to people about the Bible, going to meetings at the Kingdom Hall, 60’s music, doing yard work, cooking BBQ, fishing, car shows, hot air balloons, game shows, and spending time with his family and friends talking about cars, railroad, and old times.

David is survived by his wife, Christie; two children, Billy Dawkins (fiancé Joanna) of Macon, MO, Amy Dawkins of Moberly; two grandchildren, Kati Dawkins of Ozark, MO, Justin Dawkins of Traer, IA; as well as extended family.

Future grandchildren, Danielle Hallock (Hunter) of Waynesville, NC, Derek Johnston of Virginia Beach, VA, Jonathan Johnston of Kirksville, MO, Aden Johnston of Columbia, MO, and Jared Johnston of Macon. Future great-grandchildren are Aspen Hallock and Elena Hallock, of Waynesville, NC.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronnie Dawkins.

Services will be held on November 3, 2024. Visitation will start at 2:00 pm and at 3:00 pm there will be a memorial service at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2086 Highway JJ, Moberly, MO 65270.
