John Roland Jacoby, 87, of Moberly passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at University Hospital in Columbia. John was born July 11, 1927, to J.C and Cora E. (McKiernan) Jacoby in Moberly, Missouri. He graduated from Moberly High School in 1945 then attended Moberly Jr. College where he was elected Student Body President. John served his country in the Army from 1946 until 1947. He and Bonnie Lee Hillyard were married on December 6, 1947. He began working for Temple Stephen’s Grocery in 1947 and worked there until 1961 when he started his career with Prudential Insurance. At Prudential he started as an agent and worked his way up to Sales Manager. He retired from there in 1989 after 28 years of service. John was a member of the Central Christian Church where he previously served as a Deacon and drove the church van for the children. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and Mizzou football. His favorite pastime was watching Cardinal baseball. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Lee; daughter, Libby Ann Jacoby Robison; sisters: Marquerite Miller and Mary Foster. John is survived by his sister: Stella L. Jacoby; sons: John David Jacoby and wife Tammy of Moberly, Scott H. Jacoby and wife Sharon of Columbia, and Paul R. Jacoby of Columbia; grandchildren: John Trevor Jacoby, Bobby Lee Heathman, Rachel Jacoby Suhr, Ashley Ratliff, Kendra Shimek, and Kelli Jacoby; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend Mary Crain. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly with Pastor Jim Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Moberly. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Central Christian Church.
