Joseph Grace

February 11, 1943 — July 11, 2014

Joseph Howard Grace, 71 of Moberly MO. Joined the Lord on July 11th 2014. Joe was born to the late Charles and Mary Grace of Kahoka MO 2/11/1943. Joseph was best known for a fantastic feat of accomplishment he achieved at the tender age of 6; wherein he successfully managed to walk himself 10 miles to school, uphill, against the wind, both directions in ten feet of snow. He had worked the summer to purchase his own bicycle, but he had to carry it back and forth because he could not afford to buy tires for it. He went on to work a variety of careers in his life culminating in his own trucking company for the last 12 years. Joe lived for a time in Keokuk IA, The Quad Cities, Texas and Mexico before setting down in Moberly MO. Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Ana Grace, his four children: Annette (Allen) Wright from Reynolds IL, Howard Grace from Punta Gorda FL, Joeana Hunt from St. Louis MO and Robert Grace, who had taken on the enormous responsibility of staying at home with his father to care for him in his twilight. Joe has 10 siblings: Mary (Bob) Cecil, Jeanne (Bill) Riney, John (Fawn) Grace, Rosemarie Grace, Theresa (Ron) Voyels, Tracy (Rick) Batley, Richard Grace, Mickey (Danny) Carrol, Anthony Grace and Charles Grace, and many grandchildren and great grand children. Joe was an artist at weaving tales about his lifetime and his travels. He leaves behind a gaping hole which he once filled with his wonderful stories and advice. His family will miss him dearly, especially the story about walking back and forth to School. Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m and again on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:30 at Million Taylor Funeral Home in Moberly MO.
