Lucy “Joyce” Barron Litchfield, 88, of Moberly died peacefully September 15th at University Hospital following complications from a stroke. Joyce was born January 23, 1928 to Grover and Hester (Bryant) Barron in Moberly, Missouri. Joyce graduated both Moberly High School and Moberly Junior College. On September 8, 1951, she married Donald Litchfield of Macon, Missouri. The couple recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. As a teen, Joyce worked for Woolworth in Moberly, and later, for Stone Abstract company. In 1959 began a 32-year career as Probate Clerk of Randolph County, serving under Judges Stringer, Chamier and Cooksey. Beginning in the early 1950’s, she also had an income tax business in her home. She assisted many customers throughout the years. Joyce retired from the court system in 1992, and continued her tax business until moving to Texas in 2010. Joyce was very social and particularly enjoyed planning and executing events for the MHS Class of 1946. Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents Grover and Hester Barron, and her brother Edwin Deane “Moose” Barron. She is survived by her husband Don Litchfield (now of Columbia, Missouri), daughter Lee Ann Dalton and son-in-law Robert Dalton of Centralia; nephew Michael Barron and wife Cynthia of Austin, Texas, Michael’s sons, Travis Barron and Hunter Barron, niece Veda Barron of San Antonio, Texas; nephew Randy Litchfield and wife Angela of Irving, Texas, their daughters, Ashley Martinez and Mandy Burris, and several extended family members; three beautiful, talented, and delightful “gifted” granddaughters whom she claimed as her own: Meredith Corrigan, Mallory Sherman, and Madelyn Sherman, all of Granbury, Texas, and many life-long friends and acquaintances. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution the family suggests St. Jude’s Research Hospital, the Smile Foundation, or The American Cancer Society. Visitation will take place Monday, September 19th, from noon – 1pm at Million-Taylor Funeral Homes in Moberly, Missouri. The service will immediately follow at 1 pm, with a private burial at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
