Julie Ann Dodd, 61, of Columbia, MO passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab due to COPD and Heart Failure.
She was born on May 14, 1960 in Columbia, MO to Charles R. Melloway and Laura N. Sparks Melloway.
Julie was in a twenty-year relationship with Joel Lloyd Haley before they decided to wed in December 2012. The two loved living the “farm life” and Julie helped Joel raise goats, sheep, ponies, donkeys and lots of pigs. Julie was also an avid fan of horse racing. She met many friends on Facebook who shared her interest.
Julie was a strong, independent woman who loved her animals. Her failing health over the last several years made it hard for her to care for them, so she was very grateful for the support of her family. They will miss her greatly as will all those whose lives Julie touched.
She is preceded in death by parents, Charles R. and Laura N. Melloway; her beloved husband, Joel Haley and her sisters, Vicky Gorham and Dorcas Nichols.
Julie is survived by her sisters, Mary Bise of Sturgeon, MO, Pam and Bobby Douglas of Columbia, MO and Charlene and Roy Klug of Higbee, MO; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
A memorial service celebrating Julie’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Julie’s honor are suggested to Second Chance, 24687 MO-179, Boonville, MO 65233 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, c/o Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
