Julie Peck, 79, of Moberly died peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. She was born October 4, 1943 in Moberly, MO to Harold and Helen (Finnell) Ervin.
Julie grew up on Franklin Avenue and graduated from Moberly High School. On February 1, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart Curtis Dean Peck at First Baptist Church in Moberly, and the two embarked on a lifetime of adventure. Curtis’ time in the Air Force took them first to Illinois, where Julie attended college, and then Columbia, MO, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Curtis later began a career as a newspaper editor, and the couple moved to Memphis, TN, where their first child was born. Later they relocated to St. Louis, MO and Julie worked as a substitute teacher. Next, they moved to Florida and then to Danville, IL, where their second daughter was born. Another move led them to Mexico, MO, where Julie taught at Hawthorne Elementary, and then to her favorite teaching position in Edmond, OK. Julie finished her career after teaching many years in Webster Groves, MO.
Julie enjoyed reading, crafting, sending homemade cards, and observing God’s creation, particularly birds and squirrels! Her cards were famous for their “editing,” especially her addition of smiley faces. She was very creative and liked making floral arrangements and various crafts to decorate the house. According to Curtis, “She could have been an interior designer.” Julie also loved music (especially hymns) and sang in the church choir. She was devoted to the Lord and her faith in Christ played a pivotal role in her daily life. She loved sharing her faith, especially with her grandchildren.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen Ervin; her brother, Kerry Ervin; and her granddaughter, Megan Schumann.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 59 years, Curtis Peck of Moberly; daughters, Andrea Schumann (Chuck) of Moberly and Angelyn Tag (Jon) of Syracuse, UT; grandchildren, Mitch (Camille) Schumann, Austin (Madilyn) Schumann, Evan Schumann, Jackson (Betsy) Schumann, Lane Schumann, Isaac Tag and Maria Tag; great-grandchildren, Rosalie Schumann, Ellie Schumann, Greyson Schumann and Colter Schumann; extended family and many close friends.
