Karen L. Spotts

Karen L. Spotts, 75, of Higbee passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Boone Hospital in Columia, Missouri. Karen was born to Waymon and Freda (Hershey) McWilliams on June 25, 1939 in Leonard, Missouri. In her early years, she was best known for her accomplishments in sports, especially basketball where she and a team mate scored over one hundred points in one game. She also played slow pitch softball. Karen loved being outside, going to the boat, and loved to travel with her grandson to watch his sporting events. She worked as a bookkeeper for Ferrell Gas for many years. She is survived by her husband, Charles Spotts of Higbee; daughter, Mary Beth Spotts of Higbee; grandson, Todd Maldonado and Amanda Merriot of Higbee; great grandchildren, Brody and Brielie; nieces, LeAn Smith and husband Randy of Higbee, and LuAn Chessir and husband Doug of Columbia; several great nieces and nephews. In following with Karen’s wishes, after cremation, a Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 4:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Higbee. No burial service will take place at this time. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial donations be made to: Higbee Senior Citizens Center.
