Kathy Simone

September 16, 1945 — March 19, 2017

Kathy (Lane Albright) Simone, 71, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Boone Hospital from complications with pneumonia. Marion Kathleen was born September 16, 1945 to James Clifford and Marion Ruth (Hamm) Lane in Kansas City, Missouri. Kathy was best described as a loyal friend, and as the most caring, kind, and funniest person known. She was an avid reader of lawyer stories and mysteries, and enjoyed playing board and card games with her friends and family. Kathy was also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Kathy had strong opinions on any number of topics. And, she was not shy about sharing her beliefs. This made her a trusted confidant for many. She was very good at listening, and being compassionate and helpful. The “mother” in her often lead to her telling others what she thought they “should” do to resolve their issues. There was always at least a touch of humor in the delivery of her message. Kathy adored her grandchildren. Timmy and Alexis have shared memories of breakfast at Grandma’s that includes Orange Danish Rolls (a.k.a. ODR’s), plenty of bacon, and she insisted they have at least a shot of orange juice. She tricked them into drinking it by serving it in shot glasses. Kathy had exceptional culinary skills. She loved everything about food – its creation, preparation, and especially its presentation. She was known to say, “You eat with your eyes first!” Her kitchen creations were works of art. She got a great deal of pleasure from serving people and watching as they enjoyed her work. Kathy was known for her pies – pumpkin and apple. Her shrimp dip was not to be forgotten. And, she was a master at blending colors, layers, and textures to create irresistible salads. Kathy also enjoyed the arts – music, musicals, theater, and movies. While she had several hobbies and interests, her spirituality and faith were at the top of the list. Kathy was a member of the Masonic organizations: Rainbow Girls, Grand Cross of Color, and The Order of the Eastern Star. One of her treasured memories was serving as Worthy Matron alongside her father as he was Worthy Patron. She worked for almost two decades in the accounting department for Orscheln before her retirement a little over a year ago. She made fast friends with her colleagues, and they went on to become her closest support circle. They are thankful to have had a “front row seat for the best comedy show in town,” as Kathy’s sense of humor was such a delight. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Ronald Simone. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Amy Albright of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter and daughter-in-law, Melissa Albright and Laurie Sullivan of Orlando, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Suzie and Danny Sallaz of Raymore, Missouri; and her two precious grandchildren: Alexis Anne Albright and Timmy Albright II.
