Kent Schones, 59, of Moberly, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Chariton Valley Nursing Home in Salisbury, MO. He was born September 28, 1955 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Leon “Corky” Schones and Billie Hefner Schones. He moved to Moberly in 1968 and graduated from Moberly High School in 1973. He served in the United Air Force from September 1974 until July 4, 1977. He was a professional musician and a welder. Kent was a member of Aerie 3934 Fraternal Order of Eagles in Springfield, MO and attended meetings at the Moberly Aerie 2669. He loved music, his children and his God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Corky Schones and two brothers, Steven and Rodney Newcomb.
He is survived by his best friend, Laura Riles, of the home; his mother Billie Jean Newcomb and stepfather Corbin Newcomb; children, Stephanie Chason(Chris) of Florida, Justin Schones of Florida, Michael Schones of Springfield, MO, Cody Schones of Nixa, MO, Melody Schones of Laddonia, MO and Tiffany Schones of Henderson, Kentucky; grandchildren Corbin Chason, Jaxson Schones and Lakoda Schones.
Services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly with interment to follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with an Eagles Ritual Service at 6:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to The Diabetes Research Center, Iowa City, Iowa.
