Laurel Laverda (Mathews) Dale, 82, of Macon, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019. She was born on July 14, 1937, in Rothville, Missouri, to Oliver G. and Laura J. (Stephens) Mathews. Laurel was a registered gemologist with Buchroeders Jewelers in Columbia, Missouri, for many years, then a bank teller at Central Bank, Commerce Bank, Mark Twain Bank, Firstar Bank, and U.S. Bancorp. She earned her BA in general studies from Columbia Colleg in 2015. Laure gratefully and joyfully received the Good News of forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ, her Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Lee Dale; four brothers: Oliver Mathews, Jr., Gene (Jackie) Mathews, Garitt (Marty) Mathews, and Joseph (Gwenn) Mathews; two sisters: Mary (Roy) Tuttle and Lee (Walt) Hickman. Survivors include her children: Lisa (Chuck) Dale-Derks, James Douglas Dale, and Deborah Dale; brothers: Gerald Mathews (Shirley), Robert Mathews (Jean) and Gary Mathews (Jimmie); sister, Sue Lauhoff (John), 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Cremation has been accorded by Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Laurel will be laid to rest at Mendon Cemetery at a later date.
