Laurence Conklin Hughes, 79, of Huntsville passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at his home. He was born February 7, 1937 to Truman Hughes and Christine Taylor Hughes in Yates, MO.
Laurence was a graduate of Lincoln High School and a resident of Randolph County for most of his life. He honorably served his country from 1955 to 1976 during the Vietnam Conflict and was also stationed in Germany for several years as well as in Korea. Laurence enjoyed fishing and carpentry and was a huge Relay for Life supporter. His favorite pastime was hanging out with his family and friends.
Laurence is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his children, Rodney Laurence Hughes Sr. (Paula) of Columbia, MO, Linda Hughes Catoir (Philipp) of Germany, Voncile Hughes of Chicago, IL and Rheinhold Fick of Germany; grandchildren, Rodney Laurence Hughes Jr. and Travis Blake Hughes both of Columbia, MO, Ericka Watkins, Corrine Hughes, Racquel Hughes and Lorenzo Smith all of Chicago, IL and Hannah Fick, David Catoir and Daniel Catoir all of Germany; his beloved sister, Ruby Rucker of Huntsville; nieces and nephews; very dear friend, Joyce Robinson; extended family and friends.
Services celebrating Laurence’s life will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow with full military honors at the Higbee City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
