Lee Roy Welch, 82, of Moberly, passed away August 11, 2016 at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Lee was born July 9, 1934 in Houston, MO to Arthur Welch and Opal Lea Welch.
He was a graduate of Huntsville High School. After graduation he joined the Air Force where he honorably served his country from 1951 to 1957 as a military police officer. On June 11, 1966 he married Mary Soule in Rollins, Wyoming. Lee was a hard worker. During the span of his career he worked as a cowboy, an oil rigger, a logger, and lastly as an over the road truck driver. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Family liked to joke that around their house, deer season was “more important than Thanksgiving”. Lee always enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his stepmother, Esther Welch; brothers, Elmer, Delmar and John Welch; sister, Rita McKenney; granddaughter, Jennifer Thompson, and grandson, Zacharius Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Welch; children, Johnny Welch of Jefferson City, Bobby Welch of Moberly, Carmen Welch of Jefferson City and Kevin Welch of Dallas, TX; brother Randy Welch (Mary) of Huntsville, eleven grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Lee will be held Monday, August 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette, MO. Visitation will be from 12:00 until time of service at the funeral home.
