Leo Letterman, 83, of Madison, passed away March 10, 2015 at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly. He was born September 19, 1931 in Pansy, MO to Reverend Oliver Letterman and Bertie Rogers Letterman.
Leo served honorably in the United States Army as a medic from 1951 to 1953. On March 7, 1953, he married Edith Beals and she survives of the home. Leo graduated from Allied School of Technology in Chicago, Illinois and worked as a tool designer for General Electric for 34 years. He and Edith moved to Madison, MO in 1992. Leo was a big sports fan and loved watching the Missouri Tigers football and basketball teams as well as St. Louis Cardinals baseball, but his greatest love was for his wife Edith. Leo was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as a past president of the Trinity UM Men’s Club, and also served on numerous committees throughout the years. He especially enjoyed working at the Trinity Christmas Tree lot.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, a brother, sister and grandson.
Survivors include his wife Edith; sister Olive Adamson of Mountain Grove, MO; children, Barbara Ann (Brian) Wilkey of Cooper’s Cove, TX, Dan (Janie) Letterman of Castle Rock, CO; daughter-in-law, Rae Letterman; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Leo’s life will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Moberly at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO with full military honors. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 until time of service. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2400 Bluff Creek Drive, Columbia, MO 65201. Pathway Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
