Lloyd J Smith

Lloyd Junior Smith, age 70, of Moberly, MO, went to heaven on Friday morning, December 6, 2024, at his home.

Lloyd was born on June 11, 1954, in Chillicothe, MO, to Kenneth and Martha Jean Smith. He graduated from Moberly High School and from Moberly Area Community College. On April 30, 1972, he married Donna Banker at St. Pius X Church. Lloyd worked as an automotive mechanic until his retirement from the City of Moberly in 2016. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1974 until 1977.

Lloyd had a great many enjoyments in life which included testing his mechanical and driving ability in his 1970 Duster, hunting, fishing, helping everyone with their mechanical or other needs, endless projects around the house, and above all, spending time with family and friends. He played in a band for years with his brother-in-law, Bill Powers, and numerous other friends. He was generous to a fault. His barbeque was the BEST!

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of The Eagles, VFW, and the Masons. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Sonny.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, of 52 years; children, Mike (Pam) Smith, of Liberty, MO, Carrie (Sheldon) Slater, of Clark, MO, Natalie (Daniel) Dale, of Moberly, MO; grandchildren, DC, Ashden, Austin, Kaylee (Zack), Owen, Maddox, Gage, Kenley; great grandchild, Myles; brothers, Ralph, Bill and Terry (Irma); sister, Susie Vandepol; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Kidney Fund at give.kidneyfund.org.

The family will receive friends at the Eagles Lodge for a Celebration of Life for Lloyd. The date and time will be posted on Facebook once plans have been finalized.
