Lonnie Gail Prewitt, 76, of Moberly passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. Gail was born to the late Joie Burton “Joe Burton” and Mildred E. (Baker) Prewitt on October 21, 1937 in Salisbury, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the United States Air force from 1957 until 1961. He and Mary Burton were married in 1996 and shared 18 years together. Gail was retired from Caterpillar after 37 years of service where he worked as a machinist. He had many joys in his life from playing Santa Claus for over 50 years to being a school bus driver for Westran. He was quite the gardener and loved to grow everything “big”. Gail was fond of his joke telling and never met a stranger. He was a big hearted man and was always there when you needed him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter Darla Gail Prewitt. Gail is survived by his wife, Mary Prewitt of Moberly; daughters: Linda Ann Hanson of Katy, TX, Joyce Marie Prewitt of Topeka, KS, and Brenda Kay Prewitt of Katy, TX; brother, Neil David Prewitt and wife Joann of Michigan; sister, Loretta Joice Farris and husband Art of Washington; nephews: David Prewitt, Blake Prewitt, Byron Farris, and Aaron Farris; niece, Janita Ruland; 5 great nephews; great-nieces: DesaRae Vaught and husband Bobby, JesaRae Oliver, Jenny Oliver, Lisa Oliver, and Jerri Oliver; 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clifton Hill Cemetery. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, the American Legion of Moberly, or the Clifton Hill Cemetery.
