Madonna L. Waldrip, 84, of Moberly, died Monday, November 3, 2014, at home, surrounded by her family, following a battle with cancer.
Madonna was born April 21, 1930 in Robinson, Illinois to Floyd and Anna Metheny . She was an artist and sculptress, spending most of her adult life making fine porcelain dolls, and for 35 years was known around the country as “The Doll Lady.” She was married to Samuel E. Waldrip in 1999 in Grand Prairie, Texas, and they moved back to Moberly in 2001. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, and loved doing adoration and praying the rosary.
Those preceding her in death are her parents, two brothers, and a grandson.
Those left behind to mourn her are her husband Sam; two daughters, Lynn (Rick) Nichols, Elaine Erickson; a brother, David (Rita) Metheny; two sisters, Mary Ann (Darrell) Rollins, Phyllis (Sam) Sharum; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, November 7, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, with a prayer service following visitation. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Moberly.
