Margaret Wilson

May 25, 1930 — August 5, 2024

Margaret (Manring) Wilson went home to be with her Lord on August 5, 2024. Margaret was born on June 25, 1930 to Virginia (White) and Drewey Manring in King, North Carolina. She grew up helping her father and siblings pick and cure tobacco (she claimed to have been an excellent tobacco spitter). Her first real love was music - receiving her first guitar at age 17 and playing bluegrass throughout her life with family and friends. On September 8, 1949, she was united in marriage to her one and only, Harold Edward Wilson, Sr. of Moberly, MO. She had been introduced to him by her brother, Johnny, while he served in the navy in WWII with Harold. The two went on to have Harold Edward, Jr. (Hal) in 1951 and Donna in 1953.

Margaret was a loving homemaker - excelling in home cooking, sewing, and extensive gardening. Always energetic, she also worked many jobs outside the home throughout the decades. She worked at clothing factories, Banquet Foods, Central Methodist University, and the Moberly public schools after her retirement. Margaret was also a member of Higbee United Methodist Church and Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, serving in the UMW and often playing and singing in church with her daughter, Donna and her beloved “Willie” (Harold).

Everyone who knew Margaret has a story! She made friends everywhere she went and enjoyed making people laugh. She was 100% devoted to her family and friends, and above all, her Lord Jesus Christ. She admitted her weaknesses and was truly grateful to Him for forgiveness and mercy. Now she is united with Him and her precious Willie, Donna, Hal, and beloved family and friends who’ve gone on before.

Margaret was preceded in death by husband, Harold Edward Wilson; son, Hal Wilson; and daughter, Donna Palmgren. She was also preceded by siblings: Johnny Manring, Paul Manring, Dorothy Isley, Bonnie Bullins, and Ruby Sharpe; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Velma Maxwell, Julia Hess, Ronnie Wilson, Franklin Wilson, James Wilson, Gilbert Wilson, Martin Wilson, and Paul Dean Wilson.

She is survived by grandchildren Molly (Roy) Willis and Jason (Carmen) Ulrick; great grandchildren, Hannah Nichols, Kayleigh Nichols, April Nichols, Sam Nichols, Wyatt Willis, and Justin (Alyzza) Ulrick; very special niece, Tracy (Barin) Menaugh and nephew, Wyatt (Linda) Wilson.

A very special thank you to caregivers Julie West, Virginia Derboven, and Crystal Wilson; Loch Haven staff, especially Jessica, Jeff, Paula, Casey, and Loretta; and Compassus Hospice, especially nurse Katie.
