Marian Darlene Downing

Marian Darlene Downing, 90, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away on September 11, 2021, at her home. Marian was born October 21, 1930 to Merritt and Nellie (Lyman) Hulme in Iowa. Marian was a homemaker and enjoyed her garden, strawberries, grapes and peonies. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was always known to have a variety of homemade cookies in her freezer and teaching them card games. She loved birds and squirrels and had tamed a number squirrels that would eat nuts from your hand. Marian was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Downing, both parents and her sister Carol (Hulme) Winterroth of Iowa. Survivors include her daughter who cared for her, Peggy (Downing) Ross of the home and her son Mike Downing. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Dawn and Adrian Plank and daughter Dylan, Eric and Dana Ross and children Laine and Carter, Brad and Michelle Ross and daughters Mallory and Kylie, Tracina and Buddy Shaw and sons Hoon and Rutger, Jerrod and Kelsey Downing and daughters Lyla and Penelope. A sister Velma (Hulme) Dawson of Moberly and sisters Corrine (Hulme) Mauderer and Doris (Hulme) Hamilton and a brother Allen and his wife Marguarite Hulme all of Traer, IA. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, Missouri.
