Marilyn Kay Gibson Esry, 79, of Moberly MO, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, surrounded by family, at her home in Moberly.
Marilyn was born August 1, 1944, in Kansas City MO to Clarence and Bessie Mason Gibson. She graduated from Moberly High in 1962 and married Marvin (Kim) Esry of Moberly, on December 23, 1962, in Bremerton WA.
Marilyn lived in Moberly most of her life, moving here with her family in 1955. For the love of traveling Marilyn and family did extensive traveling and found their way to all 50 states during vacations. When she and hubby, Kim retired in 1999, they sold everything and purchased a motorhome where they lived and traveled for fourteen years, living in Texas during the winter and traveling around during the summer going back to 38 states before retiring again and moving back to Moberly. Marilyn loved reading, square dancing and traveling. But most of all she loved her family and always thought her grandchildren were her great blessings. She was a homemaker for many years before working at the library, working as a secretary for Dale Wood New York Life Ins, and ending up a licensed secretary for Larry Gibbs, American Family Ins, retiring in February 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sharon L Haak, Mother-in-law, Lela Esry Morgan and Step-father-in-law Ben Morgan, sister-in-law, Sherri Esry Winkler, sister-in-law, Karen Esry Frantzen, brother-in-law, Mark Morgan and step-brother-in-law, James (Buffy) Morgan.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Kim, three sons: Stephen (Lance King) Esry, Singer Island FL, Scott (Amy) Esry, Madison WI, and Shawn (Kate) Esry, Riverside MO. Four grandchildren; Michael Esry, Madison WI, Emily Esry, Riverside MO, Allison Esry Riverside MO and Owen Esry, Riverside MO. Brother, G. Dean Gibson, Troy MO and sister, Mary (Randy) Sheller, Columbia MO and Brother-in-law, Charles (Glenda) Winkler and sister-in-law, Sheryl Morgan, and many nieces and nephews.
Per the family’s request, there will be no services at this time. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville MO.
