Marilyn F. Koelling, 92, of Salisbury, MO went home to the Lord on March 5, 2022. She had been residing at Bristol Manor in Salisbury, MO.
Marilyn was born on June 14, 1929 in S. Chicago Heights, IL to Vernon and Ferne Burdick.
She married Norman Koelling on August 23, 1947. They farmed in Crete, IL until they moved to Clifton Hill, MO in 1974 and Marilyn took a job waitressing at the Moberly Country Club. She loved it and the people so much she stayed for over 30 years. Marilyn always said that it was her entertainment. She and Norman also enjoyed numerous dances at the club.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed her time serving meals after funeral services or helping set up rummage sales and visiting friends in the nursing home in Glasgow. Marilyn put Jesus first. She loved her family and kept in touch with childhood friends until the very end. She put everyone else before herself and knew no strangers.
Marilyn worked like a man on the farm while raising 3 children and keeping an immaculate house. She helped care for many of her family members including her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will always remember her for her sunny disposition. Norm caller her “Sunshine”. She selflessly gave to everyone around her without wanting anything in return. She had a hard time accepting help when she needed it but was so appreciative and couldn’t thank you enough.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ferne Burdick; 4 brothers, Richard, Robert, Rodney and Eldon “Butch” Burdick; sister, Shirley Teske; nieces, Julia Burdick, Brenda Teske and Heidi Cornett and a nephew, Tom Burdick.
She is survived by her children, Sandie Weatherby of Colorado Springs, CO, Larry Koelling of Clifton Hill, MO and Jeanette and Randall Smith of Columbia, MO; siblings, LaDonna and husband Don Schultz, Karen and husband Don Olson, Doug and wife Sue Burdick, Elaine and husband Jim Kleine; sisters-in-law, Mary Burdick and Pat Burdick; grandchildren, Duane and wife Christina Weatherby and Beth and husband Fernando Santos all of Colorado Springs, CO and Cheryl Weatherby of Harrisburg, MO; great grandchildren, Andrew Santos, Veronica Santos, Julian Green-Rasmussen, Jake Weatherby and Jackson Weatherby all of Colorado Springs, CO and Cory Harness, Kyra Harness, Zach Ottam and Josh Ottam all of DeKalb, IL; thirty nieces and nephews; extended family and many good friends.
