Marion Hendren

Marion Ardell Hendren, age 87, of Cairo, MO, passed away peacefully at home on
October 15, 2021.

Smokey Joe was born on December 25, 1933 in Huntsville, MO to Raymond Hendren and Francis Prather.

After a stint in the Air Force, Marion was honorably discharged and started his lifelong career as a truck driver. He owned his own truck and was extremely proud to be a part of the “million-mile accident free” club.

He was a member of the Christian community. Marion enjoyed boating, water skiing, traveling, and sharing stories about all of his trucking adventures. He could take anyone across the country while sitting at the kitchen table just by sharing his trucking stories in such great detail.

His family and friends will always remember him as a generous man who was always willing to help anyone around him, as long as he was able.

He is preceded in death by his parents, many siblings, and a great-grandson.

Marion is survived by his five children; Steve Hendren of Moberly, MO, Gary (Teresa) Hendren of Cairo, MO, Randy Hendren of Cairo, MO, Eddie Hendren of Cairo, MO, and David Hendren of San Antonio, TX, numerous beloved grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; three siblings; Carol Moore, Jerry Hendren and Kathy Hendren; extended family, and many close friends.

Inurnment with military honors will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO at a later date.
