Marjorie Richardson

Marjorie “Margie” Richardson, 85, a long-time resident of Moberly, MO, passed away at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, MO on April 27, 2018. Margie was born in Carbondale, IL on March 7, 1933 to John J. Manis and Lillian Vancil Manis. She was united in marriage to Frank Eugene Richardson in Cambria, IL on September 10, 1950. After living several years in both Carbondale, IL and St. Louis, MO, they moved to the Moberly area in 1963 where Frank worked for the railroad until retirement. Margie eventually fulfilled a lifelong dream of baking and decorating cakes. She attended a class in cake decorating at Moberly Junior College and soon began blessing others with her artistic and tasty creations. She made small birthday cakes for widows and widowers in her church. Margie would also bake and decorate wedding cakes for anyone who asked her. She loved children and babysat for many through the years. They often became like part of her own family. Margie was a “champion” Scrabble player who was known to play two or three times a day. She will be remembered for her smile, her kindness to others, and for always saying “thank you”. Margie was a member of the Union Avenue Christian Church (now Timberlake Christian Church) in Moberly for over fifty years. Those preceding her in death are her parents; and three brothers, Raymond, Glenn Allen and James Manis. She is survived by her husband Frank, who now resides in Macon; children, Nina (Mike) Roberts of Morrison, CO, Stanley (Mary Helen) Richardson of Galt, MO, Lisa (Darwin) Reis of Ames, IA, Jake (Kim) Richardson of Orlando, FL, Sara (Malcolm) Spencer of Hamilton, OH; eighteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; brothers John L. “Johnny” Manis of Makanda, IL, Clifford “Gene” Manis and wife Nancy of Carbondale, IL, Gerald “Jerry” Manis and wife Alice of Carterville, IL, extended family and many friends. Services for Margie will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service. Interment and graveside services will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in Hill Crest Cemetery in Carterville, IL.
