Marjorie Mae Satterly, 93, of Moberly passed away on July 31, 2015 at Boone Hospital in Columbia. Marjorie was born on September 27, 1921 to Melvin and Cynthia (Toalson) Heath on the family farm in Randolph County, Missouri. She married Ottis Satterly on May 26th 1938 and they were married 55 years before he preceded her in death in 1993. Marjorie and Ottis worked together in their gravel and agricultural lime business, Satterly Trucking. She handled the bookkeeping and management while he focused on delivering lime and gravel. When they were first married she and her husband hauled house trailers from the factory all over the country and especially to military bases during World War II. She loved driving, and proudly maintained her driver’s license her whole life. Marjorie also worked as a lab technician, waitress, and owned and operated her own restaurant in downtown Moberly. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and in later years attended First Baptist with her family. Marjorie loved taking care of her family, they were first and foremost in her daily activities. As a young girl she assumed much of the responsibility of caring for her younger brother and sister because her mother was chronically ill and her father was an over the road truck driver. Perhaps that is where she learned to love and care for others, always putting the needs of others before her own. Family was her highest priority. She was her daughter Glenna Mae’s biggest fan and supporter. Marjorie was seen every year around North, West, and South Park schools helping Glenna prepare and organize her first grade classroom. She was Glenna’s right hand and closest confidant. Mother and daughter shared a special bond and talked several times per day especially while Glenna went for her daily walks or jogs. One of her favorite activities was shopping and having lunch out with her daughter. She looked forward to their monthly shopping trips and loved a good bargain. She took care of all of her grandchildren from the time they were born. She made sure they got to and from school, and helped them with their homework after school. She ran a car pool for their friends and taught them all to play rummy and Chinese checkers. She attended all of their events from sports to band and gymnastics and even taught two of them to drive. She was especially proud of their academic achievements and covered her refrigerator with their photos and newspaper clippings. Marjorie persevered through 2 broken hips, a broken pelvis, and many bouts of pneumonia. Though in the last few years she needed a walker and oxygen, she still had the strength to maintain her own home and manage her own affairs. Her grandsons Matthew and Mark were the light of her life and she took pride in seeing them and their friends grow into adults. They kept her up on technology as she learned to use a computer and cell phone. Later, her granddaughter, Molly, was the joy and motivation that came into her life just before her 80th birthday. Marjorie loved dogs and had many for pets over the years. Like her sister, she enjoyed reading and Cardinal baseball. On a daily basis she watched the news, Jeopardy, Dancing with the Stars, and could be relied upon for a weather report. Marjorie was generous to a fault and will be sadly missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and all who knew her. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas Ross Heath in 1958: and husband, Ottis. Her sister, Hazel Doreen Heath, passed away on August 2, 2015. Survivors include her daughter, Glenna Greene and husband Kimber of Moberly, MO; grandchildren: Matthew Dunseith of Moberly, MO, Mark Dunseith and wife Gina of Oklahoma City, OK, and Molly Mae Greene of Moberly, MO. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly. In addition to customary remembrances, the family suggests that memorial contributions could be made to the Moberly High School Music Department.
