Mary Jane Apel

Mary Jane Apel, 93, of Madison passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri. Mary was born June 12, 1923 to Mahlon and Nettie Mae (Lepper) Powell in Evansville, Missouri. She was to married Charles S. Apel. Mary spent her life as a farm wife and loved the outdoors. In her later years she loved to quilt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Apel; parents; granddaughter, Heather Carter; and several brothers and sisters. Survived by sons: Terry Apel and wife Jan of Kearney, Missouri, and Joseph Apel of Clark, Missouri; sisters: Virginia Elsberry of Moberly, Missouri and Betty Ann Meals of Independence, Missouri; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Madison, Missouri. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer Association.
