Mary Kathryn Perkins

Mary Perkins, 55, known to friends as “Kathy”, passed away on August 27, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. Mary attended Central Methodist and earned a B.A in teaching, she later returned and received her Master’s degree in teaching from MU. Mary taught at Higbee R-8 for 31 ½ years. She was loved and cherished by her fellow colleagues and the many students she taught. She loved teaching and she loved to make a difference in the student’s life. Mary loved her family and friends. She spent her free time making rugs, quilts, and other crafts. She enjoyed going to flea markets, craft shows, and Old Threshers. Most of all Mary loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Denzel and Mary Belle Bailey; sister, Janet Kitchen, brothers: Denny and Gerald Bailey. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Mike Perkins of Higbee; son, Joey and wife Amy Perkins of Clark; daughter, Amanda and husband Kyle Patrick stationed in Germany; grandchildren: AnnaBelle Perkins, Taylor Perkins, and Justin Patrick; and the family dog, Booter. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Higbee. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Million Taylor Funeral Homes with Brother Ed Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Higbee Cemetery.
