Merold T. Devenport passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 13, 2020. He was born in Moberly, MO on December 20, 1962, son of the late Ira Eugene and Dorothy Vee Devenport.
Merold spent most of his working years at Heddinghaus Lumber and Mid Am Building Supply. On June 7, 1997 he married Sandy Scheibmeir at the Rollin S. Ranch in Clifton Hill, MO and they were blessed with 22 wonderful years together. More than anything, Merold “Papa D”, loved to make people laugh by picking and pestering them. He knew no strangers! The most important thing in the world to him was his family. He attended countless ballgames, concerts, award ceremonies and trap shooting competitions. Merold had been on numerous hunting and fishing trips with both family and friends. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or a Honey-Do-List that he wasn’t on. He will be greatly missed!
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Devenport of Moberly, MO; his three daughters, Stacy Epperson of Manhattan, KS, Dawn (Travis)Woody of Madison, MO and Nicole (Nathan) Summers of Huntsville, MO. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Tyler, Britten, Savanah, Reid, Hampton, Skylar, Keeton and Kolton; siblings, Jeanie (Dale) Boswell, Jerold (Sue) Devenport, Julie (Keith) Jackson all of Moberly, MO, Janie (John) Lackey of Pocatello, ID, Janice (Leo) Van Staveren of Granite Bay, CA, Darold (Debbie) Devenport of Granby, MO; brothers and sisters by marriage are Cindy (Fred) Tiblow, Lori (Mike) Blake, Doug (Sue) Scheibmeir, Brad (Debbie) Scheibmeir, Scott Scheibmeir all of Kansas and Brenda (Keith) Patton of Rhode Island; father-in-law, Donald (Jan) Scheibmeir of Piqua, KS; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Merold is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Devenport; sister, Jackie Devenport -Orton and mother-in-law, Theresa Scheibmeir.
Services celebrating Merold’s life will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
