Myrtle Prather

Myrtle Arlene Prather, 84 of Cairo, passed away May 19, 2016 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Myrtle was born May 29, 1931 to James and Rosa Howard Davidson in Waverly, Missouri. On December 28, 1949 she married Herman Prather and they made their home in the Cairo area for over sixty years. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, fishing, and watching westerns on TV; Gene Autry was one of her favorites. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Anyone who knew her, knew they could always enjoy a piece of pie when they came to visit. Those preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Herman Prather, her parents, 9 sisters, 5 brothers and two great grandchildren. Myrtle was the last of 14 children. Survivors include her four children, Billy and Glenda Prather, Bobby and Connie Prather, Larry and Delina Prather, Glenda and John Taylor all of Cairo; 15 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly with interment at Mt. Salem Cemetery north of Jacksonville. Visitation will be Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
