Nadine Rachel Hasstedt Mitchell, 73 of Macon passed away May, 8, 2013 at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center, Kirksville, MO. She had been in failing health for several years. Nadine was born on February 21, 1940 near Piqua, KS, the youngest daughter of Rudolph D. and Esther Hasstedt. Nadine married Russell Lee Mitchell on April 14, 1971. She was a member of the Bevier Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, one brother, John Hasstedt of Piqua, KS; sister, Lois Gilham of Raytown, MO; stepdaughter, Beverly Atkins of Higbee, MO; 4 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a step great grandchild. Nadine had worked for several U.S Government offices at Fort Riley, KS, one appointment was handling secret service papers. Later she worked for Yellow Freight System in KC, MO until retirement. Upon retirement Russell and Nadine bought a cattle ranch at New Cambria and named it the Flying-M-Ranch. Nadine said “living there was the happiest years of her life”. Anyone that knew Nadine can tell you, they never met a nicer person. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 1:00 p.m until service time at 2:00 p.m at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly.
