Norma Naomi James, 90, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. Naomi was born December 28, 1926 in Madison, Missouri, the only child of Eugene C. and Carrie Mae (Gritton) Riley. On July 25, 1942, Naomi married William H. James, and celebrated almost 69 years of marriage before he passed away on September 20, 2011. During her career, she worked in the proof department for Commerce Bank. She was employed with them for over 25 years before her retirement in 1983. She loved traveling with her husband and family throughout the years, they often boasted about traveling to all 50 states. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting. Her most treasured asset was her family. Naomi is survived by her loving children: Bill James and wife Judy of Moberly, Missouri and Barbara Ratzlaff and husband Perry of Cairo, Missouri; grandchildren: Craig France, Parisa Stoddard, Chad France, and Brittany Daugherty; and 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Naomi was preceded in death by her daughter Beverly (James) McQuitty, great granddaughter India Stoddard and her husband William (Bill) James. A private graveside service was held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Missouri, where she was buried with her husband.
