Nellie Mae DeMint, 78, of Moberly passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her home with family by her side. Nellie was born to Nelson and Alma (Ferguson) Williams on September 17, 1936 in Sugar Tree, Missouri. She and Johnnie DeMint were married on February 22, 1957. Nellie worked as a Telephone Operator for South Western Bell before her career with the Westran School District where she worked with special needs children for 30 years. Nellie retired in 2009. She was a caregiver to all, but especially to her husband. She enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard on her flowers, she loved her grandkids and will be sadly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melissa DeMint; and sister, Betty “Susie” Walker. Nellie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Johnnie DeMint; sons: Michael Ray DeMint and wife Sharon Kay of Cairo, Mo, Mitchell DeMint and wife Heather of Mexico, MO; daughter, Melinda “Mendy” Head and husband Troy of Moberly ;brother,Richard Williams and wife Doris of Warsaw, MO; sister, Eunice Blunk of Brunswick, MO; grandchildren: Josh DeMint and wife Amanda, Cody DeMint, Melissa Rollins and husband Brandon, Victor Ryan Head, Taylor DeMint, and Drew DeMint; great-grandchildren: Hannah DeMint and Jaden DeMint; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastors Jim and Jane Crooks officiating. Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly in charge of arrangements. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
