Nina Mae Smith, 91, of Moberly passed away May 10, 2017 at her granddaughter’s home. She was born October 3, 1925 to Harry and Carrie Blakely Wheelbarger in Linn County. On July 25, 1942 Nina married Oscar Smith in Moberly.
During the 40’s Nina worked for the Brown Shoe Company sewing shoes. She worked as a nurse’s aide in the 60’s and 70’s before going to work as a kitchen aide at North Park School. When not working, she enjoyed knitting, cleaning, flowers, relaxing on the porch, reading the bible and most importantly spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was also a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Moberly, MO.
Nina is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar; son, Leonard Smith Jr. (Teddy Bear); four sisters, Thelma Conrad, Virginia Twyman, Nadine Thompson and Betty Crutchfield.
Those surviving her are her son, Mark Smith (Laura) of Moberly; daughter-in-law, Rita Smith of Centralia; grandchildren, Jessica Owens (George) of Moberly, Michael Smith (Heather) of Moberly, Jeff Smith of Centralia, Greg Smith (Cathy) of Topeka, KS and Angela Elledge (Clay) of Pikeville, TN; great-grandchildren, Asher Smith, Alicia Owens, Sherri Smith all of Moberly, Jeffrey Jr. Smith of Centralia, Ashley Walker of Hallsville, Bryanna Smith of Topeka, KS, Brayden Elledge and Carson Elledge of Pikeville, TN and Sean Smith of Columbia; two great-great grandchildren and two great great-great grandchildren; extended family and close friends.
Services for Nina Smith will be held on Friday May 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Madison.
