Richard Lee Gunn

Richard L Gunn, age 81, of Moberly, MO, passed away at home surrounded by his family on February 2, 2024. 

Richard was born on September 15, 1942, in Moberly, MO, to Ishmael Gunn and Elizabeth Staiger Gunn. He graduated from Moberly High School and from Delmar College, Corpus Christi, TX in 1972 with a degree in Data Processing. 

He honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 until 1981 as Chief Petty Officer.

 He was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He married Patricia Burris on January 3, 1965, in Moberly, MO. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family and friends will always remember him for his love of family and his country.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son and three grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Patricia, of Moberly, MO; daughters, Lisa Hendren (Bill Major) of Moberly, MO, Lori (Craig) Ullrich of Pensacola, FL, Meg (Danny) Gunn, of Moberly, MO; grandchildren, Kristen Glydewell, Karlee (Caleb) Middleton, Hannah (Kevin) Sink, Zach Ullrich, Savannah (Bricen) Iannone, Shelby Ullrich, Amanda (Chris) Huber, Kayla (Lake) McCollum; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Matthew, Elizabeth, Kacey, Kori, Talon, Kaylee, Harper, Ryker, Atlas, Averie, Brantley, Nathan, Ivy, Ella; brothers-in-law, Abner Wayne Burris and his wife Marlu and their children, Dennis Burris and his wife Barbara and their children and a special nephew, Dennis Burris II. 

A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. A funeral service celebrating Richard’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., at Pathway Millard Family Funeral Chapel, Moberly, MO, followed by military honors and interment at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
