Richard Allen Sunderland, 48, of Moberly, Missouri, went to be with Jesus, with his mother by his side on January 11, 2023, at his home.
Richard was born on May 31, 1975, in Orange County, California, to Randy Galloway and Charla Fleck.
As a child, Richard loved to go Dove and Squirrel hunting with his dad. He loved exploring the creek with his brother Joey, who he jokingly referred to as “the chosen one”. They also loved jumping off the bridge with numerous friends. In high school he became friends with Chris, Jerry Sumpter, and Glen Vopal, who remained friends throughout the years. Richard loved going to all the family gatherings and loving on all the babies and wrestling with the toddlers. He was famous for getting out a tea towel and popping you with it, however, his brother generally won those wars. Richard started working when he was 15 at Riley’s gas station until he graduated. In 1994, he was blessed with a son, his best friend, Allen. They enjoyed fishing and doing burn outs. He also started work for Dura Automotive and gained another friend, Mike Burger. They loved to fish and BBQ together. In 1998, he was blessed again with a daughter, Randell, who he loved very much. In 2003, his family decided to move to California and work for his Uncle Mike & Aunt Ginny for California Exteriors. In 2010 Richard and Allen moved back to Missouri and Richard began working for TRUE Manufacture and worked until he was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in 2014. In 2016, he was blessed with a grandson, Karter. Karter and his grandpa loved to wrestle around. Richard absolutely loved kids and they loved him! Also, in 2016 his cousin Angie introduced her friend, Michelle Cunningham to him and they started dating. With this relationship he gained three more daughters, Raury, Alia and Lexi and 5 more grandchildren. Richard loved to mow and walk around Walmart and Lowes with his dad. He also enjoyed everyday walks with his mom and the dogs. Richard will truly be missed by so many. Love you, Rich.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Mona Todd of Moberly, MO; grandma, Miriam Rector of Illinois; stepbrother, Steven Chirillo of Moberly, MO; uncle, Robert Todd of Moberly, MO; aunts, Ginny (Todd) Grove from California and Janice McNally of Arizona.

P.S. Richard had a special place in everyone’s heart, especially Uncle Bob. Richard was his Tutt man, he would work on Uncle Bob’s lawnmowers, and they would always catch on fire, and of course, Uncle Bob loved seeing Richard smile his big smile when he would tease him about it.
