Robert Lee Leuchtenberg, 86, of Moberly, passed away May 15, 2020 in Columbia, MO.
He was born in Bloomington, IL on July 10, 1933 to Maurice Leuchtenberg and Edythe Shoemaker Leuchtenberg. Robert grew up in Bloomington and graduated from Trinity High School in Bloomington, IL. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served as a
Paratrooper at Ft Benning, GA from 1953-1955.
Following the service, Robert worked at Continental Grain in Hennepin, IL and later for the Village of Sheffield. He was also a volunteer for the Sheffield Fire and Rescue Department, as well as the Brashear County Fire Department, where he was awarded fireman of the year.
Robert was also an avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Edythe Leuchtenberg and a son, Earl Kevin Griggs.
Survivors include his brother, Wayne Leuchtenberg of Galesburg, IL; his sisters, Marietta Peve of Walnut, IL and Rita Toohill of LeRoy, IL; his ex-wife, Claretta Leuchtenberg of Princeton, IL; step-son, Roger Kimberly Leuchtenberg of Orfordville, WI; son, Robert Michael Leuchtenberg of Rogers, AR; 3 daughters, Melody Ann (John) Bainter of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kelli Jo Willstead of Oregon, IL, and Tonya Renee (Andrew Sr) Chase of Princeton, IL; grandchildren, Holly (Jon) Fecht and their children, Natalie and Noah Fecht all of Carthage, IL, Kimberly Willstead of Oregon, IL, Rodney Willstead, Jr. of Sheffield, IL and Seth Leuchtenberg of Orfordville, WI; nieces and nephews.
Private services celebrating Robert’s life will be held at a later date.
