Robert Dean Stephenson, age 64, of Madison, MO passed away February 27, 2023, at his home. Robert was born December 29, 1958, in Mount Ayr, IA. Robert was born to Donald and Emil (Hulett) Stephenson.
Robert graduated from Paris High School and from Moberly Area Community College in 1980 with a degree in Business. Robert accepted a position as a supervisor at the MO Department of Corrections where he worked for more than 26 years. Robert was an avid member of the Lions (many roles) “Colonel Popcorn”/Popcorn sales chairman for Cub Scout Pack 734. Robert was a member of the Madison Christian Church and enjoyed his time as a member of the Lion’s Club, was a volunteer at Central MO Diabetic Children’s Camp (Camp Hickory Hill). Robert was a great family man who took great joy in helping others. Robert married Lynette Sportsman on September 20, 2013, in Moberly, MO.
Robert enjoyed spending time with family, volunteering, coaching and grilling. His family will always remember him for his kind heart, ornery personality and willingness to help others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Fern Stephenson, brother, James and sister, Diane.
Robert is survived by his wife, Lynette Stephenson, Madison, MO, son, Charles Stephenson, Columbia, MO, nephew, Mike Stephenson (Donna), Huntsville, MO, great- nephew, Ricky, Huntsville, MO, great-niece, Jillian, Huntsville, MO, step-son, Justin (Tabitha) Sportsman, Madison, MO, step-daughter, Julie Liberty & friend Chris, Brookfield, MO, step-daughter, Jill Liberty, Jefferson City, MO, step-grandson, Rodney Sportsman, Jefferson City, MO, step-grandson, Matthew Holt, Jefferson City, MO, step-grandson, Levi Holt, Brookfield, MO, step-granddaughter, Zoey Holmes, Brookfield, MO and step-grandson, Drayden Chitwood, Madison, MO, sister in law, Leigh (Audrey) Clifton, Jefferson City, MO, sister in-law, Lana (Travis) Sawyer, Brookfield, MO, nephew, Lane (Colbie) Sawyer, Keytesville, MO, and a great niece, Aspyn Sawyer, Keytesville, MO.
A celebration of Robert’s life has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Madison Christian Church, Madison, MO, with interment to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, at Madison, MO. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service at Madison Christian Church, Madison, MO. In honor of Robert’s life, the family asks that any donations be made to the Lion’s Club.
