Robert (Bob) Alexander Todd, 69, was born on June 30, 1953, in Chillicothe, Missouri, to the late Freddie and Mona (Soule) Todd. Robert passed away on May 22, 2023, peacefully at his home in Moberly, MO with his family surrounding him. He had been ill for a few years.
Robert lived in Costa Mesa, California, where he loved to surf! He then joined the 2nd Armored Division of Fifth US Army in July 1971 and served as a Tank Driver. He was Honorably discharged in May 1972 and was awarded with a National Defense Service Medal and the Expert (Rifle).
In 1975 Robert and his brother, Steve hitchhiked from California to Missouri to start a new beginning. Steve ended up not caring for the “country life” so his big brother got a job at Toastmaster to buy a ticket for Steve to get back to the “city life”. Bob stayed back to get another paycheck to purchase his own ticket. However, a beautiful young lady caught his eye and won over his heart, whose name was Brenda.
On February 28, 1976, Robert and Brenda were married. In 1977 they had a daughter, Angela Todd. In 1979 they had a son, Robert Todd. As a family they enjoyed camping, fishing, and hosting all the 4th of July events.
In the early 80’s Robert became a first responder and was a co-founder and firefighter at Eastern Rural Randolph Fire District. During this time, he also attended Moberly Area Community College and received his EMT License. He then began working for the Randolph County Ambulance District and was promoted to crew leader, he also worked part time for surrounding ambulance districts. During this time, he obtained his paramedic license and advanced to the University Hospital and Clinics where he worked on the ambulance for a few years then subsequently was promoted to a flight medic for the Staff of Life Helicopter. While working at the university he was awarded Star Employee of the Year. On June 30, 2016, Robert retired.
Robert was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2669.
In 2022 he was named Randolph County Outstanding Citizen of the Year.
However, his greatest accomplishment above all was his outpouring of love and dedication to his family. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Mona Todd; one sister, Virginia “Ginny” Grove and brother-in-law, Rick Buxton.
Robert “Bob” is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda (Buxton) Todd of Moberly, MO; daughter, Angela Todd of Moberly, MO; son, Robert (Chelsea) Todd of Moberly, MO; 4 grandchildren, Grace (Devon), Cody, Kolbie and Shelbi; 2 great-grandchildren, Autumn and Dallas; brother, Fred (Darla) Todd of Mexico, MO; sister, Charla (Mike) Fleck of Moberly, MO; brother, Steve (Judy) Todd of Moberly, MO; numerous nieces and nephews.
