Ronald "Ron" Belzer

Ronald "Ron" Belzer, 67, of Higbee, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 14th, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was surrounded by his family. Ron was born to Les and Mattie (Coffman) Belzer on December 18, 1947 in Moberly, Missouri. He was lucky enough to have two great loves in his life. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia "Ginger" (Slightom) Belzer. Together they had four children. She preceded him in death in 2008. In 2012, he found Gloria Minnick. They shared a love of family, laughter, and traveling. Ron worked as a coal miner for many years and also worked in construction. Ultimately, he became a licensed journeyman electrician and retired from Caterpillar, where he was a supervisor. Ron was a kind and loving man, who loved life and those around him. He loved being outdoors working on his farm, fishing, and hunting. He treasured spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Ron is survived by his children, Kim Gordon (Mike) of Pilot Grove, Mo., Dean Belzer (Carrie) of Higbee, Mo., Jennifer Murray (Alan) of Springfield, Mo., and Hope McReynolds of Springfield, Mo. He is also survived by his best friend and partner, Gloria Minnick of Kansas City, Mo; brothers; Milton and Philip Belzer of Kansas City and Steve Belzer of Moberly; grandchildren; Caylah Copas, Paul Belzer, Ryan Murray, Amber Belzer, Emily McReynolds, Andrew Murray, and Connor Murray as well as three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Million Taylor Funeral Home in Moberly, Mo. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 11:00 to 1:00. A short memorial service will be held at 1:00. Burial will be private. In lieu of customary remembrances,the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
