Ronald Lee Cook (Cookie), 68, of Huntsville passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, MO. Ronald was born July 18, 1948 to Robert and Darlene (Liggett) Cook. On October 2, 1970 Ronald married Cheryl Edwards at the Little Flock Chapel in Seymour, IA and they shared 46 years together.
Ronald was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He spent his years working construction as a heavy equipment operator. One of his most favorite moments was getting chosen to fly on the Honor Flight last year. In his free time, Ronald enjoyed the outdoors, building things, painting cars and watching Nascar races. Even with all his hobbies, Ronald was happiest when the whole family and his many friends were together at the outdoor pavilion he had constructed and named Hickory Hill. He was always the life of the party, making everyone smile.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dottie.
Those surviving him are children Melissa Baxley of Clifton Hill, Christopher Cook of Huntsville, Travis Cook of Knoxville, TN and Tricia (Jeff) Mooneyham of Hallsville; Grandchildren Andrew, Abby and Addison Baxley of Huntsville, Kassidy, Caleb, and Taylor Cook of Clark, Blake Cook of Huntsville, Roland Brown, Tiernan and Paisley Mooneyham of Hallsville; Siblings Dee (Jack) Cox of Huntsville, Bob (Connie) Roberts, Ray Roberts and Kathy Roberts all of IA, and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Ronald will be held at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. followed by internment at Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held the same day from 11:00 a.m. till time of service. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
