Ronnie Singleton

Ronnie Eugene Singleton, 77, of Moberly, Missouri, peacefully passed away at home on May 19, 2024, with his wife, Faye of 41 years by his side.

Ron was born on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 1946, in Moberly, Missouri, to Hazel Singleton. From birth until his early years, he was raised in Armstrong, Missouri.

He graduated from Moberly Senior High in 1964 then attended Moberly Junior College. He was perceived to be a “nerd” due to his stark white shirts and loner status. He was always a very quiet and smart man; sometimes complicated to understand but once he got to know you, he would give you the shirt off his back if needed.

Ron honorably served his country in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam in 1966 until 1968.

Ron married Margaret Faye Cade on April 3,1983, in Moberly, Missouri. Faye is well known for helping others, but she always had help behind the scenes from Ron. He had always been helpful and supportive of all that Faye would take on. Ron and Faye also owned a club called Shades in the 90’s.

He worked as an Engineer for Norfolk and Southern for 36 years before his retirement. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and was on the safety committee for many years. In his earlier years, Ron worked for Putkett’s Men’s Wear in Columbia and was a Mechanic at Hershel Meyer’s Transmission Garage on Concannon. One of Ron’s main hobbies that he shared with his good friend, Tim Luntsford was cars, especially Ford’s and Nissan’s.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Singleton; maternal grandparents; uncles, Bill Singleton, Buster Graves, Charles Singleton and James Singleton; cousins, Mike Fugate and Carletta Fugate; mother-in-law, Bessie Cade; brothers-in-law, Al Cade and Andy Cade; sister-in-law, Marie Staten and nephew-in-law, Lance Cade and close friends, Carl Smith and Jim Brady.

Ron is survived by his wife, Faye Singleton of Moberly, MO; sons, Shannon (Tanya) Lee of Jefferson City, MO and Ron Singleton Jr. of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Shannon Lee Jr., Jessica Lee, Jayden Lee, Bryson Singleton and Gabrielle Singleton; cousins, Janet Singleton, Charles Singleton Jr., Clarissa McElrath and Deborah Moore; brother-in-law, James Cade of Moberly, MO; sisters-in-law, Vivian Douhgty and Sandra Gatlin both of Columbia, MO; extended family; close friends, Walter Davis Jr., Lena Jones, Vi Barton, Paulette and Amber Brady and many other friends.

If desired, memorial contributions can be sent to the American Cancer Society Leukemia at PO Box 28566 St. Louis, MO 63146.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Elara Caring, Lincare and Hospice Compassus staff for all they have done to help Ron during this time.
