Rose Marie Crawford was born on Dec. 22, 1938 to Charles Leslie & Fern Marie (Watson) Morris 10 miles from Unionville, MO in Putnam County. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother Charles, and half-brother Henry "Hank" Morris. She is survived by her husband John Herbert Crawford of 63 years and their four children, John Leslie Crawford, Herbert Eugene Crawford, Willie Matthew Crawford, Willia Marie (Crawford) Goers and their families. Growing up she attended a small one room country school where she had to walk more than two miles to get to school in the Summers & Winter until she graduated to attend high school in Unionville. At the age of 36, after raising 4 children, she decided to go back to school and received an associate degree from Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, IA and Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Truman State University, Kirksville, MO. After she acquired her teaching certificate from Eastern Montana College she taught in Musselshell County in Roundup, MT., where she lived for several years before moving back to Moberly, MO. From there she taught for many more years before retiring as a teacher in the Renick School District. She was an avid reader, loved learning new things and shared ideas at family dinners quite often. She taught herself how to paint and loved to play the piano and organ, but her pride came mostly from her volunteerism. She also had a love of animals and shared her time and love with several pets from snakes, to hedgehogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, as well as various cats and dogs. She also enjoyed bird watching and always kept her guide book handy to identify new birds as they came to her feeders. Her life was always dedicated to serving others either as a teacher or through her faith and worship at Zion Lutheran Church. Even after retirement, she volunteered her time and was a member of The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Daughters of the American Revolution and Compassus Hospice Care. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1075 E.
