Roy Newbrough, 82, of Madison, passed away Friday, February 05, 2016 at Macon Health Care Center. Roy was born May 5, 1933 in Mexico, MO to Wilbur and Lilly Pearl Austin Newbrough. He married Donna Welge in Paris, MO on November 29, 1959 and they shared 56 years together.
Roy worked as a heavy equipment operator for NEMO coal which later became Associated Electric and also farmed. He enjoyed watching any and all sports from baseball to gymnastics. Cardinals baseball and the Missouri Tigers football and basketball teams were some of his favorites. Roy also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and mushroom hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his son Victor Newbrough and brother Dean Newbrough.
He is survived by his wife Donna; his daughters Phyllis Martin of Armstrong and Nicki Johnston of Moberly; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Arlene Goosey of Buffalo, MO, Carl Newbrough (Pauline) of Moberly and Wretha Davis of Kansas City, MO.
Memorial service for Roy will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Madison, MO at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association, Cross Point Church in Moberly, MO, or Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
