Ruth Mary Chaloupka Sullivan, 50, of Indianola, Iowa, formerly of Higbee, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2014, in Des Moines, Iowa after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 9, 1964 to George Chaloupka and Anna Tolbert Chaloupka. Ruth graduated from Higbee High School in 1983. Ruth was a doll collector and enjoyed writing poetry. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially with her precious Grandson, Phoenix. Those preceding her in death are her Father, George Chaloupka, her Brother, Gerald Chaloupka and many Aunts and Uncles. She leaves behind her Mother, Anna Chaloupka of Huntsville, MO; her Beloved Companion James Jewell of Indianola, IA; her Children, Rebecca Escobar-Dixon (Miguel Escobar-Cruz) of Clive, IA, Melissa Dixon of Pella, IA, Scott Sullivan of Indianola, IA, Grandson, Phoenix Escobar-Dixon, Clive, IA and Grandson “on the way”, Oliver Escobar-Dixon; Siblings, Betty (Kent) Peterson of Des Moines, IA, Diane (Derrick) Haley, of Moberly, MO, Shirley (Lyle) Blackman, Lovilia, IA, Janice (Dan) Wassmuth, of Cairo, MO, Richard (Faith) Chaloupka, of Cairo, MO, Charlene (Brett) Slade of Clinton, IA, Robert (Lisa) Chaloupka of Huntsville, MO as well as many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. A memorial service celebrating Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, MO. Visitation will be held the same day from 12:00 noon until time of service. Her family has elected to hold a private graveside service. Memorial contributions in Ruth’s honor are appreciated to Hospice of Central Iowa, Bright Kavanaugh House, 3000 Easton Blvd., Des Moines, IA 50317.
