Sandi Leigh Anderson, 55, of Moberly, MO, went home to the Lord on August 3, 2020 at Moberly Regional Hospital in Moberly.
Sandi was born on May 18, 1965, in Moberly, MO, to Floyd and Mary (Oliver) Prewitt. She attended Cairo School and graduated from Heritage Christian Academy. She spent many years in clerical related work, but her most rewarding accomplishments in life involved being with family, especially her children and grandchildren!
She spent nearly her entire life on the same country road outside of Moberly and lived within a mile of most of her family. She was a good friend to her two big sisters, Patty and Becky. She was able to play an active role in watching her niece and nephews, and then great nieces and nephews, grow up.
Sandi was blessed with two children, Tonya and Willie, and then 5 grandchildren. They were her pride and joy! She took delight in raising her children and supporting them in their school and various activities. She loved cooking and making crafts with her grandchildren. She was always telling them: “Love you to the moon and back!”.
Sandi had great compassion not only for people, but also for animals. She would take in any stray animal that showed up and would find it a home, which would sometimes end up being with her! She had many beloved pets through the years.
In her family, Sandi was known as a great cook. She loved to cook for family and also for various events, which included church activities and retreats at St. Pius X Church where she and her children became members in 2000. She had played an active role there since the beginning of the Christ Renews His Parish retreats.
No matter how she felt, Sandi was always there to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. You could count on her matter-of-fact advice. She had a deep faith and trust in the Lord, which not only got her through many difficult times in her life, but which she shared with others through her optimistic attitude. She would often say: “It will be okay!” and as for the little things: “It’s just stuff!”.
Sandi had many challenging experiences in her life. She carried her burdens with grace. She responded by living the best life possible, by helping others, by being there for those she loved, and by making the world a better place.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mary Prewitt.
She will be greatly missed by those who loved her, especially by her son, Will Anderson and wife Kimmy from Gloucester, VA; her daughter, Tonya Nichols and husband Tim from Moberly; her grandchildren, Leila, Bella, and Rosey Anderson, and Preston and Sarah Nichols; her sisters, Patty Skinner and husband Roy from Moberly, and Becky Myers from Columbia; her many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family members and many, many dear friends.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic a private memorial service has been scheduled.
Memorial contributions in Sandi’s honor are appreciated to the American Diabetes Association, 2833-B East Battlefield, Suite 100, Springfield, MO 65804 or to the donor’s favorite charity.
