Sharon Louise Sumpter

Sharon Louise Sumpter, age 76, of Higbee, MO, went home to the Lord on November 17, 2023, at her home in Macon, MO. 

Sharon was born on July 27, 1947, in Moberly, MO to Donald Andrews and Mary (Bonuchi) Andrews.  She graduated from Fayette High School in 1965. 

She was a member of the Higbee Christian Church and enjoyed her time as a volunteer at Higbee Senior Citizens Center.  Sharon was a wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother,  a great family person, and a fantastic homemaker generous to a fault.  She married Artis Sumpter on September 4, 1965, in Higbee,  MO.  Sharon was a social, active woman who was deeply involved in church and her community for the majority of her life.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, and caring for grandkids.  Her family and friends will always remember her great cooking and kind heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Andrews.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Artis Sumpter of Macon, MO; her daughter, Sherri Ellward (Grant) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Eric Spilman (Amber) of Macon, MO, Garrett Ellward of Gainesville, FL, and Regan Ellward of Tuscaloosa, AL; great-grandchildren Bexley Spilman of Macon, MO, Declyn Spilman of Macon, MO and Kenton Spilman of Macon, MO; siblings Cynthia Bickmeyer (Denny) of Hermann, MO, Paula Dougherty (Bill) of Higbee, MO, Melinda Grimsley (Bobby) of Higbee, MO, Randy Andrews of Higbee, MO, and Donnie Andrews (Tammy) of Higbee, MO.  Sharon had too many extended family and close friends to mention.

A Graveside service celebrating Sharon’s life has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Higbee Cemetery, Higbee, MO.  If desired, donations can be sent to Higbee Christian Church or Higbee Senior Citizens in Sharon’s memory.
