Shawn K. McCormick

Shawn "Bubs" McCormick, 31, of Huntsville, MO went home to his heavenly Father on Saturday, January 18, 2025.  Born on July 24, 1993, Shawn brought light and love to those around him throughout his life.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Butch McCormick and cousin, Grayson Prather.

Shawn was the proud father of his 9 year old daughter, Charleigh, who was the light of his life and center of his world.

Shawn is survived by his mother, Rita Wheeler and stepfather, Mike Wheeler, Jacksonville. MO, his father, Shawn McCormick and stepmother, Lacy McCormick, Moberly, MO.  Shawn also cherished his grandma, Kathy Bentch, with whom he lived, alongside his grandpa "Pa" Randy Spaid. Grandma Kathy was his biggest fan and constant source of encouragement.  He is also loved and will be remembered fondly by his grandparents, Jim "Poppy" and Grandma Susie Bentch, Debbie McCormick, and Grandma Mary Wheeler.

As the oldest of seven siblings, Shawn holds a special place in the hearts of Eryn (Conner) and Matt (from his mother & stepfather), Willa, Luke, Violet, and Ivy (from his father).  He also shared a close relationship with his four aunts and uncles, Carol (Jimmy), Julie (Chad), Lacy (John), and Kelly (Justin), whom all loved him deeply and treated him like their own child.  Shawn was also loved by his Aunt Brook and Uncle Dustin (Sherry).  Extended family includes numerous cousins and close friends who enriched his life with joy and connection.

Shawn was a hard worker who began working at age 15 with his Dad in concrete construction and recently was working for the Laborers' Union Local 955.  Outside of work he found joy in karaoke - always stealing the microphone, fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors.  He expressed his faith through Bible journaling and his love for the Lord was an important part of his life.

Though Shawn faced challenges with mental health and depression during his life, he will be remembered for the love he gave to others and the memories he created with those who knew him best.  May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.

A service celebrating Shawn's life will be held on Friday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway-Millard Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Hagar Cemetery in Huntsville, MO.
