Shirley Jo Roth

Shirley Jo Roth, 65, of Cairo, MO, passed away at home with her husband by her side on April 5, 2023, after a battle with breast cancer.

Shirley was born on September 10, 1957, in Moberly, MO to Stanley and Josephine (Ballew) Johnston. She graduated in 1975 from Westran High School, in Huntsville, MO.

On October 16, 1976, Shirley married Joseph (Joe) Roth at the Cairo Christian Church in Cairo, MO. They were blessed with two children, Kimela and Joey.

Throughout her life Shirley was employed by TG&Y, Walmart, Hatfield Trucking and the most recent, Everlast in Moberly, where she embroidered boxing uniforms for professional boxers for 20 plus years. 

Shirley recently became a member of the St. Pius Catholic Church of Moberly, MO.

She enjoyed being outdoors tending to the lawn and her flowers; spontaneous road trips with her husband that would lead them to various towns and places, including ice cream shops, Amish Country, and shopping at her favorite stores.

Her family and friends will always remember her, for her fun-loving personality and sense of humor; she always knew how to have a good time and make others laugh. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Josephine (Ballew) Johnston, a brother, Wayne Johnston.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Joe; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimela & Jeremy Skinner, of Moberly, MO; a son and daughter-in-law, Joey & Kortney Roth, of Cairo, MO. Five grandchildren, Nicole, Brad and Eryn Skinner of Moberly, MO; Hunter and Beau Roth, of Cairo, MO. Many nieces and nephews, extended family, and close friends.

A “Get Together” celebrating Shirley has been scheduled for Monday, April 10, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the home of Kimela & Jeremy Skinner, 2133 County Road 1460, Moberly, MO.  All family and friends are welcome.
