Velda Lou McCoy, 86, of Middle Grove, passed away at Moberly Nursing and Rehab January 3, 2018. Velda was born in Fayette, MO on April 7, 1931 to Roy Long and Dorothy Palmatory Long. She was a lifelong resident of the Middle Grove area. On July 3, 1946 she married John McCoy, who preceded her in death. Velda was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Moberly. She worked for Banquet Foods for many years on various assembly lines. Velda liked to crochet and was adept at growing both vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and going fishing. Those preceding her in death are her parents; husband; one brother; two sisters; son David McCoy and granddaughter Jennifer Jo McCoy. She is survived by her children, Charles (Mary) McCoy of Moberly and Glenda (Marvin) Pilkington of Middle Grove; grandchildren, Mike (Rhonda) McCoy of Woolridge, Barbie McCoy of Moberly, Carma Craigg of Centralia, Steve (Rachel) Moore of Middle Grove and Tom McCoy of Middle Grove; great grandchildren, Brent and Nick Craigg both of Madison, Tiffany (Jake) Leezer of Centralia, Michael (Brandon) McCoy of Prairie Home, Jeffery, Jacob, Jaden and Katelyn Moore all of Middle Grove, Taylor McCoy of Virginia, Carlee and Kinly McCoy both of Middle Grove; great-great grandchildren, Makayla and Johnathan Leezer both of Centralia; extended family and friends. Services for Velda will be Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly. Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Velda’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63132.
