Virginia Sue Ehrhardt, age 78, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away surrounded by family on February 13, 2025, at her daughter’s home.
Virginia was born June 23, 1946, to Robert Doyle and Katherine June McCowan in Nevada, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Donal Ehrhardt in 1978, who preceded her in death.
Virginia is survived by two children, Robert (Tammy) Clements of Pennsylvania and Melissa Palmatory of Moberly, Missouri; 9 grandchildren - Chelsea (Nicholas) Salvatore, Townsend (Nolan) Evancheck, Joshua Clements, Trentyn Clements, Emma Clements, Eva Clements, Sean Palmatory, Bethany Roberts and Michael Palmatory; 7 great grandchildren - Skylar Roberts, Laura Farmer, Jack Salvatore, Miles Salvatore, Finley Evancheck, Holly Evancheck and Conner Palmatory; two foreign exchange daughters, Linda Marcusson from Sweden and Annette Jetting from Denmark; one niece, several nephews, numerous extended family and special friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Gary McCowan; grandson, Dustin Roberts and son-in-law, Kevin Palmatory.
Virginia graduated from the lower and upper division of Moberly Junior College. She received her Bachelor's, Master's and Specialist degrees from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Virginia taught in Moberly Public Schools for 31 years. During that time, she taught 4th grade, 5th grade, developed and implemented the EAGLES program. She was a mentor teacher for three University of Missouri Fellows teachers, taught class at the University of Missouri and spent the last 2 years as the Literacy Coordinator for Pre-school through Highschool. After retiring in 2007, she taught at the Moberly Area Community College as an adjunct instructor.
She was President of Moberly Community Teachers Organization and President of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of Randolph County Retired Teachers and a member of Carpenter Street Baptist Church.
Virginia was a devout Christian who enjoyed playing cards and online games with many friends and family. She was a very generous lady that didn’t know a stranger. She took every opportunity she could to witness to others about God. She truly was the “Grand” in Grandma, and the “Great” in Great Grandma.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon with the service beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Moberly.
The family suggests memorials be made to Carpenter Street Baptist Church, 501 E. Carpenter St., Moberly, MO 65270 or Moberly Public Schools.
