Virginia D. Elsberry

Virginia D. Elsberry, 104, of Moberly, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at North Village Park, Moberly, Missouri. Virginia was born in Evansville, Missouri on October 12, 1912 to Mahlon Newton and Nettie May (Lepper) Powell. She married Gerald Elsberry and he preceded her in death in 1989. Virginia loved to garden, was a great quilter, and enjoyed walking. She was known to get on her roof and clean out gutters as well as mow her lawn. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Mary Jane Apel, Bertha Ruth Meals, Lorene Francis Elsberry, Jewell Ballard, Carrie Mae Staley; brothers: Lloyd Powell, Austin Powell, Carl Powell, John Powell, and Richard Powell. Survivors include her sons: Earl (Debbie) Powell of Moberly, Missouri and Jim (Narda) Powell of Madison, Missouri; sister, Betty Ann Meals of Independence, Missouri; grandchildren: Jeremy Powell, Jessica Wilson, Justin Powell, Brian Powell, Kimberly Black, and Keely Brewer; 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Vic Comstock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Madison, Missouri.
